Tuesdays Craft Club - BScit

Although Ilkeston Festival has now ended and the last session of BScit Craft Club was last week, it has gone so well we have decided to carry on! 

So this Tuesday 7-9pm at wash arts, bath street, inspired by the attached photo we will be looking at bag making.

If you would like to join us and have any fabric, (lining and outer, maybe an old shirt or cushion cover) ribbon, good scissors, interfacing, anything else you would like to include that would be great, otherwise there will be a small charge and a selection to chose from.

Results, share and spot your tile

Were you here, can you find your tile? Than you to all those that came and made a tile, they all for done. Apologies its taken so long to post here but you can scan it on your phone through the window at wash arts and find the hidden message! Workshop in Drawing without Pens

Theresa Potter's workshop, on  Saturday July 14^th   between 1pm – 3pm, introduces 'Drawing without pens', where paint based prints are simply and easily created. They are then embellished using various other mediums including pastels and chalks. Anyone over 10 can join in (children need to be accompanied by an adult) and will be able to take their work home.

At wash arts the Qart workshop is underway till 3pm today. The tiles are filling up fast so get down quick if you want to be a part and see the resulting scan, will it work, what will it say?......

Help Create a 'Giant' QR Barcode

Local 'Soil' artist Adrian Lloyd is running a technology based workshop at Wash Arts on Saturday the 7^th July between 10am - 3pm to create a 'Giant' QR barcode, 2 metres square! Members of the public are invited to drop in and decorate one or more of  the 441 individual 'tiles' that go into making the installation, which will be readable using a smart phone app. An 'anything goes' approach will be adopted using collage, paint and textiles to enhance the normally black tiles in this technological piece based on a mathematical algorithm.

Pre-view Exhibition at Wash Arts, Bath Street

Get a Pre-view of Theresa Potters's own  Touch Prints. Theresa is exhibiting at Wash Arts from Monday 2^nd -  Friday 6^th July 10-3pm.

New BScit Craft Group

Bath Street Crafting Initiative Team (BScit) run by Kirsty Taylor starts on 3^rd July from 7 – 9pm at Wash Arts 154 Bath Street. It will then meet every Tuesday evening, with the 1^st three sessions free of charge. 

People are invited to share their craft or techniques and can either bring their own materials or buy some for a small charge.  Kirsty A.K.A. Rustyfish.co.uk also creates 'sock monsters'  (not unlike the recent car TV advertisements ) and  produces 'in trend' homemade jewellery using familiar objects, themes and crochet animals including the nation's favourite animal …. Meerkats!

Friday Afternoon felting workshop 1-3pm

Run by Lindsey Morris you will create mini wall hangings from 1pm – 3pm at Ilkeston library. 

Participants will be  using the wet felt method which will create  exceptionally tactile fabric landscapes with stunning effects. 

If you can't make the workshop you can still come and see an exhibition of work that has already been created, on show at Ilkeston Library, (library opening times) until 21^st July.

Cardboard Creations

This week you will be able to see local artist Vinnie Lynch, the Doodle Bug creating unique art from recycled materials. Come along at various times this week and you will be able to see the doodles come to life. 

Or better still take part this Saturday, pop down to Wash Arts 1-3pm and Doodle with Vinnie at the Doodle Club, let your mind scribble free.

Granby Open Afternoon

This wednesday from, 1:30pm- 4.30pm Past and Present from our community with links to Granby are invited to see Displays, a Choir performance, music and floral displays as part of Ilkeston Festival. Best Wishes Granby

Ilkeston has A Window on Arts

Walk or Drive past Wash Arts, at the bottom of Bath Street between 11th June to 21st July and you will see the transformation of the windows. Join artist Di Shepherd from 'Artblock' on Sat 16th June, 10am - 3pm to see the finished result and take part!
